TLT: Percy falls off the St.Louis Arch
SoM: Didn’t they almost fall when...
when someone tries to talk shit about you and you immediately shut them down
haha I guess when I say everybody I mean the majority of people in the fandom. At least that’s what it feels like to me.
It seems like he’s always portrayed as so happy-go-lucky and energetic by fans whereas in the books he’s moody and bitterly sarcastic and just all around in a foul mood a lot of the time. He complains often in his head and tends to dramatize situations, which are funny to us but clearly being mocked by Percy in this sense. Not that Percy is always miserable I guess because he definitely has his happy moments where he smiles and laughs, but its not that much and there aren’t that many and the older he gets, the more those are dwindling off because he’s taking his life more seriously and realizing just how much he’s sick of the demigod lifestyle. Even at a young age though, right off the bat, Percy straight up tells you he dislikes being a demigod and, “Am I a troubled kid? Yeah, you could say that,” so…obviously brooding is just a part of his personality. I think he even says in TLT that one of the reasons his mom thinks he looks so much like his Dad is because Percy has that naturally brooding look to his face that Poseidon shares.
I don’t know, everybody interprets characters differently I guess, but it seems pretty obvious to me that even though Percy is hopeful, he’s also pretty darn miserable a lot of the time.
